DASH began in Summer of 1993 by a group of Gainesville residents to deliver meals on the weekend and holidays when the weekday, federally funded SNAP/ MOW program did not. The first groups to participate were the Rotary Club and Hillcrest Church of Christ—who continue after 24 years to get volunteers for DASH. Meals are prepared at the Pecan Creek Village, volunteers pick up their geographically located routes and deliver up to 240 meals per weekend. DASH has 17 churches and groups who participate and more than two dozen coordinators who get at least 100 volunteers each month to bring a hot lunch to our area home bound residents. Want to help?
